Premier League football is exhausting – just ask anyone who has played in England’s top tier. Today, we’ll be looking at the division’s most indefatigable marathon men from the current season.
These five outfield players have played more minutes in the Premier League than any other this season – the list includes stars from teams such as West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.
To avoid the list being dominated by goalkeepers, we excluded them from this list. Three goalkeepers have played in every minute across 34 games this season – they are Martin Dubravka, Djordje Petrovic and Bart Verbruggen.
Jarrod Bowen
Jarrod Bowen will go down as one of West Ham’s most beloved players in the Premier League era. Having been a Hammer for over six years now, he has been ever-present for them this season.
All in all, Bowen 2,961 minutes for West Ham this season. No other attacking player has accumulated so much playing time in the Premier League in 2025/26 – all of the other players in our list are defenders or midfielders.
With eight goals and eight assists in the Premier League this season, Bowen will be good value for his spot in the England squad at the 2026 World Cup.
James Garner
This has been a real breakout campaign for James Garner. After Manchester United allowed him to join Everton in 2022, he has grown from strength to strength. Now, he is among the league’s best central midfielders.
With 2,964 Premier League minutes under his belt this season, Garner’s maturity on the football pitch is clear for anyone to see.
It’s up for debate as to whether he is worthy of a spot in England’s World Cup squad. Thomas Tuchel could do far worse than him – he will surely be a reliable choice at very worst.
Virgil van Dijk
This hasn’t been Virgil van Dijk’s best season by any stretch of the imagination, but we feel much of the criticism he has received has been largely unwarranted.
Even at the age of 34, the Dutchman has proved that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level of the game.
He has played out every minute of every game for Liverpool this season, giving him a total of 2,970. The only reason he isn’t any higher is because Liverpool have played one game fewer than some of the other teams in the league – can Van Dijk play every minute of every game until the end of the season?
Nikola Milenkovic
Nottingham Forest have had a turbulent season – for better and for worse, Nikola Milenkovic has been present every step of the way.
Like Van Dijk, he has also played in every minute of every game this season, but misses out on a higher spot due to the lesser number of games played at this stage.
A towering defender with excellent tenacity and defensive instincts, the Serbian international has been a very important player for the Trees this season – can he keep them in the Premier League?
Adrien Truffert
Adrien Truffert has been one of the best value-for-money signings in the Premier League this season. Snapped up for less than £15 million, he has been a cornerstone of Bournemouth’s fantastic 2025/26 campaign.
He has played out a gut-busting 3,020 minutes this season – he has missed just 40 minutes over the course of the entire campaign.
A deeply underrated player, we think he is good value for a spot in France’s World Cup squad – has he done enough to turn Didier Deschamps’ head?
