Premier League leaders Manchester City turn their attention to the FA Cup on Saturday as they face Championship high-flyers Southampton in the semi-finals at Wembley.
The Citizens moved top of the league table courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley on Wednesday, ending Arsenal’s 209-day run at the top.
Pep Guardiola’s side could drop back down to second, though, if Arsenal avoid defeat against Newcastle United on Saturday.
In the meantime, it appears that City are preparing a significant offer for an England international.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Man City are preparing a significant financial offer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The Italian journalist claims that City are readying an ‘important’ financial offer to the player himself, who is enjoying a fine season with Forest.

Having joined Forest from Newcastle United in 2024, Anderson has now played 85 times for his current club.
So far this season he has made 43 appearances for Forest, as well as establishing himself as a regular for England on the international stage.
Romano claims that Man City are currently leading the race to land the midfielder this summer, although rivals Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the situation ad could move to sign the player if City fail in their attempts.
Anderson, 23, has more than three years remaining on his current contract at The City Ground.
Despite City preparing an offer for Anderson himself, Romano also reveals that the Carabao Cup holders have not yet made any progress with Forest in their efforts to sign the central midfielder this summer.
City’s search for a new midfielder comes ahead of Bernardo Silva’s impending departure from The Etihad, which was announced earlier this month.
