TMW claim that sporting director Andrea Berta is “already in contact” with the Belgian club’s top brass about completing a move ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tresoldi has had a good season in front of goal, having scored 18 times in 52 appearances across all competitions.

The 21-year-old’s latest goal came against KV Mechelen during a 6-1 win on Wednesday night.

Why do Arsenal want to sign the forward?

It is believed that Tresoldi has been targeted as a replacement for Gabriel Jesus, who has been tipped to leave the Emirates at the end of the campaign.

The Brazilian international is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract, and he is not expected to be offered an extension.

Reliable sources have named Jesus as one of 5 first-team players that the Gunners are prepared to sell this summer. He has also recently hinted that he will be leaving the club.

What do fans need to know about Tresoldi?

The striker is a German Under 21 international but he is eligible to play for three countries, having been born in Italy to an Argentinian mother and an Italian father before moving to Germany in 2017.

Tresoldi came through the ranks of Hannover 96 before and made his first-team debut against Kaiserslautern in July 2022.

He wasn’t a prolific scorer during his three seasons with the Bundesliga 2 outfit, finding the back of the net just 14 times, but he attracted the attention of Club Brugge.

The Belgian club splashed out €7.5m to bring Tresoldi in last summer, and the decision has paid off with the player currently their top scorer this campaign.
