Graeme Le Saux has issued a stark warning to Andoni Iraola, cautioning the Bournemouth boss against joining Chelsea amid their current situation.
Chelsea have Andoni Iraola on a list of names that could potentially become the new manager, though it has been claimed that there are currently no conversations.
Graeme Le Saux was a non-executive director at Mallorca. During this period, Le Saux monitored the Spanish landscape, witnessing Andoni Iraola’s rise through the ranks at Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano.
While they were never at the same club, Le Saux’s role in Spain allowed him to observe Iraola’s approach to management firsthand, long before the Spaniard became a household name in the Premier League.
And now he finds himself as one of the best managers in the Premier League, taking Bournemouth to the brink of European football.

Graeme Le Saux doesn’t want Andoni Iraola at Chelsea
However, not even Graeme Le Saux is encouraging managers to join Chelsea, which speaks volumes about where things are at right now (as per TalkSPORT).
“So, I mean, I know Andoni Iraola well from my time in working in Spanish football when he was at Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano, and he’s a fantastic coach. What he’s done at Bournemouth is absolutely tremendous.
“But he’s a serious manager. So I would, if I was speaking to Andoni, I’d be saying, do you want to be the next one put into that mangle and spat out the other side?
“Because we’ve seen Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino have gone in Graham Potter. You know, it doesn’t matter how much experience you’ve got. You’ve got to align everything and give the coach autonomy in certain decisions and then allow the strategists at the club to build the plan, but not at the cost of what’s happening on the pitch.
“And I’m afraid when you look at what’s happening on the pitch, that’s exactly the outcome they’ve managed to deliver.”

Graeme Le Saux’s time at Chelsea
Graeme Le Saux enjoyed two successful spells at Stamford Bridge, making over 300 appearances for the club. A technically gifted left-back, he was a vital component of the trophy-laden side of the late 1990s, winning the League Cup, the Cup Winners’ Cup, and the FA Cup during his second stint.
During Le Saux’s time, Chelsea was owned by the outspoken Ken Bates, who saved the club from bankruptcy for £1 in 1982.
That era saw signings like Ruud Gullit and Gianfranco Zola with aging facilities and looming financial instability before Roman Abramovich’s 2003 takeover.
