Manchester United are poised to reinforce their midfield department during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are set to part ways with Casemiro when his contract expires on June 30. The club are looking to sign at least two midfielders, and possibly a third if Manuel Ugarte leaves.
Sunderland star Noah Sadiki is one of the top targets on the shortlist, and it has been claimed that United have a big advantage over Chelsea, having almost secured Champions League football.
The Journal have now provided a further update on the player’s situation. It is reported that Sunderland are bracing for offers for Sadiki and Enzo Le Fee when the transfer window reopens.
They could secure up to £100 million from the duo’s exit. Sadiki could be sold for £45m or even more. United are not alone in the race, with Chelsea and Arsenal also tracking him.
United should swoop for Sadiki after a fine debut season
The DR Congo international joined the Black Cats from Union Saint-Gilloise for £15m last summer, and has been a revelation for them in the heart of the defence alongside Granit Xhaka.
Sadiki has caught the eye with his tireless work rate and high pressing from the centre of the park. He has won almost two tackles per game alongside four duels and three recoveries.
At 21, he has seamlessly adapted to the league’s higher intensity in his debut season and should only get better with age and experience. He has plenty of room for development.
United may not see him as a regular starter alongside Kobbie Mainoo, but rather as an option who could provide fierce competition off the bench for next season and beyond.
The price tag does not seem excessive for his performances this term. United have a clear edge over Chelsea as they are virtually guaranteed a Champions League spot.
Arsenal are also in the mix for the talented midfielder, and the Red Devils may need to be proactive to secure the midfielder’s signature ahead of the Gunners this summer.
