Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique's chances of becoming the Chelsea manager shared - Ben Jacobs

Chelsea’s search for a new manager has hit an early roadblock, with the club forced to rule out former targets Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea’s hunt for a new manager is currently a wide-open search, as the club insists the unplanned dismissal of Liam Rosenior has left them without a formal shortlist.

Luis Enrique, who has held discussions with the Chelsea hierarchy in previous cycles, is currently overseeing a successful era at Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel is fully occupied with England ahead of the World Cup. Having recently extended his agreement, it’s clear where his focus is.

These dual commitments have forced the Chelsea owners to look toward a new generation of candidates to fill the void left by Liam Rosenior.

Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique ruled out at Chelsea

Ben Jacobs, speaking in the Give Me Sport newsletter has issued an update on Chelsea’s manager search, ruling out Jose Mourinho, Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique from becoming the vacant role at Stamford Bridge.

“I can’t give you a shortlist yet because Chelsea sources are adamant that they don’t have one, out of respect to Rosenior, and because this change was very much unplanned.

“But if we go back a little bit further and look at previous processes run by Blueco, there’s a few names that we should mention.

“One is, of course, Luis Enrique, who interviewed for the Chelsea job and the parties were not aligned. Enrique will sign a new deal at PSG, keeping him at the club until 2030, so he’s not available.

“There’s no chance of a Thomas Tuchel return and Chelsea have always downplayed Jose Mourinho returning, so something would have to change there.”
