WSL: Man City's title hopes hit by shock Brighton loss

Updated / Saturday, 25 Apr 2026 14:24

Madison Haley struck twice as Brighton checked Manchester City's Women’s Super League title charge with a shock 3-2 win at Broadfield Stadium.

City were dominant after taking an early through Kerolin, but against the run of play American forward Haley levelled it up in first-half stoppage time for a Brighton side with Republic of Ireland's Caitlin Hayes in defence.

Kiko Seike fired Brighton into the lead soon after the restart before Haley struck her second and although Khadija Shaw pulled one back late on to set up a grandstand finish, City slipped to their third league defeat of the season.

Andree Jeglertz’s side were hoping to close in on their first WSL title since 2016, but five points are still required from their last two games as third-placed Arsenal have three matches in hand.
