Kylan Midwood says his eye for goal in recent weeks is a result of going the extra yard in training sessions.
The 18-year-old has scored four goals in three successive Under-18 Premier League North outings for Oliver Reiss’ side, helping us earn key wins over Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and our latest opponents Middlesbrough.
Midwood opened up the scoring with Christian Dunbar-McDonald, Teddie Lamb, Dante Headley and Finlay Gorman all adding their names to the scoresheet for a 5-0 win on home soil.
The triumph sees City move six points clear of Manchester United following their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland and now just three league games left to play.

And for Midwood, he is delighted to see his hard work on the training pitches translate to contributing to City’s title race.
“It was a good game, important to get the three points. United are right behind us. But good to get minute and good to win the game 5-0,” began Midwood.
“I’ve just been working hard in training.
“Always doing extras, always keeping my head up even if I miss a few chances and just staying in the game.
“I think the main thing is to just work hard. As a winger you lose the ball a lot, it’s just staying in the game and counter pressing to try and win the ball back and help the team.”
