Arsenal blow as big star comes off injured against Newcastle United following big knock

Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow after Kai Havertz picked up injury against Newcastle United during their Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium today.

The Gunners returned to action after their defeat to Manchester City last Sunday, and Mikel Arteta’s men opened the scoring through Eberechi Eze nine minutes into their clash with the Magpies.

However, Arsenal could be sweating on the fitness of Havertz after he had to be withdrawn after 34 minutes.

Kai Havertz forced off through injury, Viktor Gyokeres replaces him.

The German could not continue after a knock and had to be taken off for Viktor Gyokeres.

The Arsenal star made his way down the tunnel immediately and did not appear to be fine.

Havertz has battled with injuries all season and Arteta will be praying he has not sustained a serious injury at such a crucial time of the campaign.

The Gunners are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Their next Premier League game is also at home against Fulham next Saturday, and it remains to be seen whether Havertz will be available for Arsenal’s next two games.

He only just returned to action in January having been out since the first game of the season against Manchester United in August, and being without him going forward will be a huge blow.

Havertz has five goals and three assists in 19 appearances so far this term and Arsenal need his influential presence as they look to win the Premier League and Champions League.
