Arsenal dealt injury blow as Havertz forced off against Newcastle

Arsenal have been dealt another injury blow after Kai Havertz was forced off the pitch against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The playmaker made an impact on the game at the Emirates Stadium when he set up Eberechi Eze for the opening goal.

He laid the ball off to his teammate in a clever corner routine that resulted in a brilliant finish from the edge of the box.

Havertz’ day ended prematurely, however, when he dropped to the ground inside the centre circle. He required treatment on his upper right leg, indicating he may have sustained a groin injury.

The Germany international was replaced by Viktor Gyokeres in the 34th minute with the Gunners a goal up.

Havertz had only just returned to full fitness, starting three of Arsenal’s last five games in all competitions, after a season plagued by injury problems.
