Wesley Fofana dismisses Liam Rosenior's claim about the Chelsea squad

Wesley Fofana has hit back at Liam Rosenior’s assessment of the Chelsea dressing room, dismissing claims of a lack of desire in the current squad.

In Liam Rosenior‘s final days, the manager labeled the squad’s performance unacceptable and privately warned the board that he was dealing with a group of “petulant children”.

These comments came after a catastrophic sequence of five consecutive Premier League defeats for Chelsea without scoring a single goal, a drought stretching back to 1912.

The recent 3-0 hammering at Brighton served as the final straw, highlighting a total disconnect between the dugout and the pitch. There’s no doubting that the effort has been visibly lacking on the pitch from the players, but there was a lack of control coming from Rosenior.

Wesley Fofana shares how the Chelsea players are feeling

Speaking to the FA, Wesley Fofana stated that the club are united and all together ahead of the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United.

“Everyone wants to win games. Everyone wants to win trophies, so everyone is concentrating on that and we’ll try everything for that. We’ve lost games, but we need to stay together. We need to stay focused because we have big things coming.”

This answers back to the claim from Liam Rosenior about a lack of desire after the Brighton loss.

“Tonight was not about tactics, it was about desire.”

Over to the Chelsea squad to prove themselves agaisnt Leeds

The spotlight now shifts to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final that serves as the final chance for silverware.

Despite Liam Rosenior’s exit, the Blues squad faces a desperate need to silence the narrative against a high-flying Leeds United.

With interim boss Calum McFarlane at the helm, the players must finally show the fight Rosenior claimed they lacked; it’s the only way to silence the critics.
