Marseille head coach Habib Beye has decided to drop Arsenal loanee Ethan Nwaneri (19) from the team’s starting line-up against OGC Nice tonight. Despite a handful of absent players through injuries, such as Hamed Traoré, Igor Paixão and Amine Gouiri, the England international is benched against Les Aiglons.
Speaking to L1+, Ligue 1’s in-house streaming platform, Beye hinted at a relatively weak week in training from Nwaneri. Quizzed on the player’s absence from the team, the former Senegal international full-back confirmed it was a coaching choice. “*He’s a quality player, but he has to give us way more in his day-to-day commitment. Other players gave way more.*“
Beye said that Nwaneri could still be involved against Nice, but the Arsenal loanee may be reduced to a part-time role from here until the end of his loan to Marseille.
