Arsenal "prepared" to swoop for £52m Real Madrid star

Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners are likely to make multiple changes to the squad this summer, and the main priority could once again be on reinforcing their attacking options.

A marquee left winger should be the prime priority, but the club are also exploring the possibility of landing a young striker to replace Gabriel Jesus.

Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi was recently linked with the Gunners, and Mundo now claim that Mikel Arteta’s side are interested in landing Endrick.

Endrick was loaned out to Lyon by Madrid at the start of the year. He has fared well for the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists from 18 appearances.

Los Blancos have no intention of selling him upon his return, but the Gunners are keeping a close eye on the striker. They would be ‘prepared’ to make an offer if the opportunity arises to sign him.

Arsenal could make an ambitious swoop for Endrick

The 19-year-old signed for Madrid from Palmeiras in a huge deal worth £52 million two years ago, but he struggled to break into the starting plans due to fierce competition for places.

Endrick was more of a substitute for Los Blancos. The need for regular playing time before the summer World Cup contributed to his temporary switch to Lyon in the last transfer window.

It has proved worthwhile with 14 goal contributions from 18 appearances. Endrick was back in the Brazil squad last month and could make the cut for the World Cup later this summer.

The youngster started off his career as a centre-forward, but he has been highly effective on the right wing for Lyon. He has completed 2.4 dribbles and won almost five duels per game.

Endrick has also caught the eye with his quality distribution. He has created eight big chances in Ligue 1 alone. His ability to play upfront or on the right flank will no doubt have caught Arsenal’s eye.

Madrid are not exploring a summer transfer for their prized asset, but a move could be on the cards if Endrick personally pushes to pursue a new challenge away from the Spanish capital.

Arsenal have a good working relationship with Madrid, having previously signed Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos (on a double loan), and could make a move for Endrick if he can be prised away.
