Arsenal have made contact with representatives of Arda G üler to see if he is interested in a move to the Premier League.
The Gunners are looking for more creative options, and Güler’s numbers bear favourable comparisons with Martin Ødegaard’s – 59 games, 8 goals and 16 assists for club and country.
And with Ødegaard struggling for both fitness and to find his best form, Güler has been identified as a potential successor in his position in the team.
Nevertheless, it takes two sides to make a deal, and the message from Güler’s camp has been that he is happy to stay at Madrid, where he has become established in the first-team this season. And Madrid also do not want to sell the Turkish international, even though they are preparing for a summer overhaul after another trophyless season.
Arsenal will retain a watching brief, however, and are ready to react if circumstances change.
