Since Mikel Arteta became a manager, Chelsea have had four permanent head coaches. In that time, they have won four major honours.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have just had the Spaniard at the helm and only one trophy has followed. Perhaps regular change shouldn't always be sniffed at.
That said, the Blues are now stuck in a quagmire. Until they sacked Liam Rosenior and won their FA Cup semi-final against Leeds, it had been a rough old period.

They had lost five consecutive Premier League games without even scoring a goal. When the ball found the net on Sunday, supporters didn't know what to do with themselves.
For now, Calum McFarlane will leave the Chelsea players towards their objectives. A new manager is not expected to be named until the close season.
The latest on Chelsea's manager hunt
While Clearlake are not planning to appoint somebody immediately, the plan is to have someone in place before the World Cup kicks off so they can tackle the summer transfer window efficiently.
So, who will that man be? Well, it appears the leading candidates at the moment are Andoni Iraola and Cesc Fabregas.

The situations of the two managers couldn't more different, however. While Fabregas looks well set to stay with Como in Italy, Iraola has already confirmed he will be leaving Bournemouth behind at the conclusion of his contract.
As a result, it would make his appointment easier. No compensation, no waiting around. The Spaniard is available and free to hire.

Yet, they are not the only options with talks reportedly held in the past with PSG boss Luis Enrique. He is widely regarded as the best manager in the world right now so that perhaps feels like something of a fantasy hire.
The same might well be said of Frank Lampard. The Chelsea legend has had two stints in the Stamford Bridge dugout but is allegedly being lined up again.

That's according to Caught Offside, who covered a variety of candidates from Iraola to other names, including Xabi Alonso and Xavi.
Yet, the report notes that 'whispers from inside the club’s boardroom' suggest that some senior figures are pushing for the return of either John Terry or Lampard.
The thought process is that they could inject some much-needed 'fighting spirit' into what is an extremely fragile dressing room.
Why Lampard could be Chelsea's very own Mikel Arteta
While Chelsea may well have won more silverware since the Spaniard became the boss at the Emirates Stadium, there is no getting away from the fact that Arsenal are one of the best teams in the land.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during training
Their attacking football may well have waned in recent seasons but they are top of the Premier League and in the semi-finals of the Champions League for a consecutive year. Blues supporters would bite their hands off to be in that situation right now.
The fact of the matter is that Arteta helped fix the team when it had been reduced to rubble under the reign of Unai Emery. Arsenal are not quite a powerhouse again just yet but there is no denying that the former midfielder hasn't done a fabulous job after returning to coach a side he once played for.
Lampard is cut from a similar cloth in that regard but does a move make sense? Well, they often say never go back and this could be a third reunion with Stamford Bridge.
On paper, it would be a strange decision for all parties. In both of his tenures at the Bridge, the former midfielder has been dealt a rough hand. He had to get through a transfer embargo during his first stint as Chelsea manager before he came in as something of a rescue act three years ago, when he replaced Graham Potter in April 2023 until the end of the season.
This time, however, despite the fuss around BlueCo and Todd Boehly's decision-making, it would surely be an easier environment. That second stint, he knew he was not going to be given the time and then in his first spell, it did not help at all that he wasn't able to sign new players.

Since both of those moments at Chelsea, the 47-year-old has matured a great deal as a manager and as a coach.
He lifted the Championship trophy aloft over the weekend, confirming Coventry City's promotion to the Premier League. It was Lampard's first promotion as a manager and will mark the first time that Coventry will play in the top-flight for 25 years. It's an incredible achievement.
So, with the former Blue having now finally tasted success as a manager after everything he achieved as a player, there would perhaps be no better time to invest in Lampard as your head coach.
Like Arteta, he could be just the figure that Chelsea need to galvanise and inspire the dressing room. He has done that brilliantly at Coventry.

That said, as amazing as it would be to see Super Frank back in London, there are surely more appealing options out there.
