McCabe and Mead set for Manchester City move next season

According to a report in The Athletic, Katie McCabe and Beth Mead are close to agreeing moves to join Manchester City on free transfers at the end of the season. Both players are out of contract in the summer.

Arseblog News understands that Arsenal were willing to make Beth Mead an offer to stay at the club but Manchester City are likely to offer the player a longer deal. City will play Champions League football next season, while Mead’s partner, Vivianne Miedema also plays for the club, so the attraction of such a move is obvious.

With Caitlin Foord also out of contract this summer, we believe the club would prefer not to lose both wingers in one summer. We currently don’t have firm information around whether Caitlin will be offered a new deal but it’s one we are keeping an eye on.

We have no extra information around City and Chelsea’s reported interest in Katie McCabe and weren’t aware of it prior to The Athletic story being released. Arsenal have already announced the departure of Manu Zinsberger, whose contract expires this summer, while Stina Blackstenius has extended her deal. We are expecting more contract extensions in the first team squad.
