[According to Arseblog News](https://arseblog.news/2026/04/steph-catley-signs-new-arsenal-contract-3/), the extension runs for two years, ensuring Catley will remain in north London until at least 2028.

Versatile defender’s Arsenal journey

------------------------------------

Since joining from Melbourne City in July 2020, Catley has established herself as one of Arsenal’s most reliable performers. The veteran has made 165 appearances for the club, contributing four goals along the way.

Initially deployed as a left-back during her first four and a half years at the club, Catley has seamlessly transitioned into a centre-half role under Slegers’ guidance. This tactical switch has proven inspired, with the Australian thriving in her new position.

Her outstanding performances during the 2024/25 campaign earned her a Ballon d’Or nomination in 2025, recognition of her status among the world’s elite defenders.

International recognition and silverware

----------------------------------------

Catley’s excellence extends beyond club level, with the defender claiming Australia’s PFA Women’s Footballer of the Year award on three occasions – in 2025, 2024, and 2020. Her 146 caps for the Matildas underline her importance to the national team setup.

At Arsenal, she has been part of a successful era, winning two Continental Cups and a Champions League title. Her leadership qualities have also been recognised, with Catley forming part of the club’s leadership group.

The contract extension comes at a crucial time for Arsenal Women, who are looking to build on their recent successes. Catley’s experience and versatility make her a valuable asset as the club continues to compete at the highest level both domestically and in Europe.

With her future now secured until 2028, Catley can focus on helping Arsenal Women achieve their ambitious targets in the coming seasons.
