Arsenal and Atletico Madrid fans have been urgently warned of thunderstorms and heavy rain that could impact their Champions League match-up.

Meteorologists have confirmed that adverse weather conditions are predicted across the Madrid Metropolitan Area and Henares Corridor, potentially impacting travel. Fans travelling to Spain have been urged to be aware and keep an eye on local updates.

They are also encouraged to check their transport arrangements before setting off for the Metropolitano Stadium.

Local weather service Aemet states that Wednesday will see 30mm of rain in just an hour, with the warning in place from 12pm in the afternoon until 10pm - after the game is expected to conclude.

The website states "significant danger" of storms, with "very strong gusts" of wind and "occasionally hail" also predicted.

With the weather warning in place, the two opposing bosses will have one eye on the sky and the other on their squad as a place in the Champions League final awaits just one of them.

Boss Diego Simeone praised his side for making it to the semi-finals and insists that minds are firmly set on the Arsenal challenge. He said: "Dreaming is ‌all well and good, but reality is what happens on the ground.

"Reality is what we do and what God wills. That's how we behave. We're in another semi-final. It's extraordinary to reach it for the fourth time in 14 years. It's incredible.

"That faith, that excitement, that infectious spirit will do us a world of good. We're facing ‌a tough match but we're going there full of hope."
