PSG vs. Bayern Munich live score: Champions League result, updates, stats from semifinal first leg

JUMP TO:

Title-holders PSG will put their Champions League credentials to the ultimate test as they host high-flying Bayern Munich in the first leg of their semifinal matchup on Tuesday.

The defending champions remain one of the best teams in the world, but will be challenged heavily by Europe's most potent attacking side in this highly-anticipated meeting.

Led by a host of Ballon d'Or contenders, Bayern have already smashed the Bundesliga record for goals in a single season with multiple matches still to play.

In European competition, however, they have been matched at the top of the scoring charts by today's opponent PSG, who are angling to become the first back-to-back European champions in eight years.

The Sporting News is following the PSG vs. Bayern Munich match live, providing score updates, commentary, and analysis.

PSG vs. Bayern Munich live updates, highlights from Champions League

The Sporting News has taken a closer look at what makes the Pep Guardiola disciple so good at the head of Bayern Munich, as he takes the fundamentals of Guardiola's philosophies and applies them with a Carlo Ancelotti-like laissez-faire touch.

Ahead of the Champions League semifinals tomorrow, I took a closer look at Vincent Kompany's tactics.

There's a time and place for "less is more." Carlo Ancelotti won with it at Real Madrid, until it went sour.

PSG vs. Bayern Munich team news

Luis Enrique and PSG have every single key player fit for this match, a boon to their chances of advancing. Fabian Ruiz returned from his knee injury with three part-time appearances in Ligue 1 action, and should be fit to start. Ousmane Dembele, who has also struggled with injuries in his career, was rested over the weekend and has only logged one full 90 minute appearance in Ligue 1 play since returning from a calf problem in early March.

The biggest issue for Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany to work around is a season-ending adductor injury to Serge Gnabry, who went down in early April league action and could miss the World Cup. They are also missing Raphael Guerreiro who is not expected back from his hamstring injury for another few weeks. Budding young attacking star Tom Bischof is also not available due to a calf strain.
