Alisson’s future & Salah’s goodbye: 9 things we want from Liverpool’s final 4 games

Liverpool have only four games remaining in their season as they look to secure Champions League qualification, but there are still several things we’d like to see before the campaign ends.

It has been a title defence to forget for Liverpool, with the lows outweighing the highs throughout 2025/26, leaving Champions League qualification as the only possible achievement.

Arne Slot‘s side need at most five points to ensure they are dining at Europe’s top table next season, and there’s a number of things we’d like to see from the Reds in the final stretch.

* Qualifying for the Champions League goes without saying!

1. Mo Salah to get his farewell ON the pitch

The sight of Salah being forced off with a hamstring injury in the win over Palace led to immediate fears that we had seen the last of the No. 11.

It would be a sad way to sign off from a legendary spell at Anfield, and you can only hope he is at least fit to play some role in the final match against Brentford on May 24.

If anyone has super powers of recovery, it is him. Let’s hope we get at least one more match with Salah on the pitch.

This is a dream at the start of every season, for Gomez to end his career-long wait for a professional goal!

He’s currently gone 271 appearances without one at Liverpool – the third-longest spell in club history – and it is about time we got to celebrate with him. The scenes will be quite something.

There are no assurances he will be here to attempt it next season, and he has to get it done while Andy Robertson, Salah, Alisson and Co. are still around.

The 18-year-old has been a constant presence around the first team this season, named in 40 matchday squads across all competitions, yet he has started only two games.

Both outings in the XI came in the Carabao Cup back in September and October, meaning it is about time Nyoni is trusted on the Premier League stage. He’s shown he’s good enough and that he’s got the temperament.

It has been a tough season for the record signing, and now he’s been thrust into shouldering the load up top after Hugo Ekitike‘s serious Achilles injury, and we want to see him build his confidence.

The goal against Palace, his first since his leg break, was well taken, but a few more finding the back of the net will help alleviate some of the negativity about his first season at Anfield.

The Final Run-In

Fixture Position Date

Man United (A) 3rd May 3

Chelsea (H) 8th May 9

Aston Villa (A) 5th May 17

Brentford (H) 9th May 24

5. No more defeats

Liverpool have lost a staggering 18 games in all competitions this season, one short of their record in a single campaign this century (19). A tally that cannot be allowed to be matched or broken.

With four games remaining and the opposition all currently sat ninth or above in the table, it won’t be easy for an inconsistent Liverpool side, but the Reds cannot be on the end of another losing scoreline.

We’ve seen flashes from Wirtz, but we want the full 90-minute performance that sees him ‘own’ his position on the pitch from start to finish.

With Man United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford remaining on the fixture list, the German ought to have opportunities to stamp his authority and be the creative force in the team.

7. Anfield to continue voicing opposition against ticket price increases

We hope by the time the final game of the season rolls around against Brentford that protests will no longer be needed as the club have listened.

But if that’s not the case, we want to see Anfield continue to unite against a decision that harms supporters, showing the club they made the wrong call and to come back to the table to discuss.

8. For squad decisions to be announced ahead of the final game

We know Salah and Robertson will leave at the end of the season, and they will be given the legendary send-off they deserve.

But if Alisson is to join them, we want to know as he does not deserve to leave without the fanfare and acclaim, such has been the overwhelming influence he has had on and off the pitch.

Ibrahima Konate is expected to sign a new contract, and that being announced in good time would also be welcomed. Let’s just not leave everything to the last minute, Liverpool.

9. If Slot is, in fact, staying, we need to see the plan

The noise from reports in England is that Slot is here to stay, and if that’s the case, we need to see something in these final four games that has been lacking all season: an identity.

What is this Liverpool team about? What does a ‘Liverpool goal’ look like? What’s the plan moving forward? What is the philosophy?

These are questions we need answers to otherwise the confidence heading into the summer, where further squad changes are made, will be low.

Have Your Say

If this is to be Alisson‘s final season, where does he rank in Liverpool’s all-time greatest keepers?

Are you satisfied with Arne Slot staying, or do you need to see a clear change in ‘identity’ first?
