The latest transfer news from the Premier League as Leeds, Tottenham, Liverpool and more eye summer deals

Gameweek 34 of the Premier League is now done and dusted, and we’re very much down to the business end of the 2025/26 campaign. It’s been a blockbuster season of action in the top tier, with the rare treat of a title race, relegation battle and European place dogfight (we’re still not quite sure what the appropriate noun is for that one) all going down to the wire.

On top of that, we’ll be served up a generous full round of European semi-finals this week, as Premier League clubs Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace all look to bring home silverware across UEFA’s various tiers of elite cup competition.

We’re also gearing up for what looks set to be a hectic summer transfer window, with pretty much every club in England’s top tier gearing up for doing some business. Manchester United are having a midfield overhaul, Liverpool are looking for the next Mohamed Salah, and Chelsea are probably preparing to spend £70m on a 17-year-old Bolivian wonderkid known only to the most avid of Football Manager players. For now, here’s the latest transfer news and gossip from the Premier League:

Nottingham Forest gem ‘increasingly likely’ to stay

Let’s start things off at Old Trafford, where it looks like Manchester United could be in a spot of transfer bother. Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been on fire of late, scoring five crucial goals in his last three matches. Football Insider report that, despite keen interest from the Red Devils, he’s likely to stay at the City Ground.

It’s claimed that while United may well launch a move for the England international this summer, Forest will block any attempts to sign their star man, whose current contract runs up until 2028. They stood firm in the past, preventing Tottenham from buying him last summer and ensuring he signed the aforementioned deal extension.

The 3AM Verdict: If Forest stay up, they’re well within in their right to tell United to, essentially, do one. They will, however, be mindful that the 26-year-old could have his head turned, especially if his efforts for a club in the relegation scrap aren’t deemed to be worthy of a place in England’s World Cup 2026 squad by manager Thomas Tuchel.

Leeds United and Spurs chase Japanese striker

Over to Feyenoord, next, where 27-year-old striker Ayase Ueda has been enjoying somewhat of a breakthrough campaign, scoring 25 league goals in 29 appearances. This form is said to have alerted Leeds, Tottenham and Brighton, all of whom Team Talk claim have sent scouts to watch him in action during the 2025/26 campaign.

The report suggests that Leeds may have an ace up their sleeve when it comes to persuading the 38-cap Japan international to choose them - they’ve got a teammate in Ao Tanaka already on the books. It is worth noting, however, that Brighton have Kaoru Mitoma, while Spurs have youngster Kota Takai.

The 3AM Verdict: Signing Eredivise players should always be treated with a degree of caution - for every Luis Suarez, you’ve got about five Afonso Alves - and in Ueda’s case it’s worth noting his rather underwhelming one goal in eight appearance across the Champions League qualifiers and Europa League this season.

That said, if he is attracting serious Premier League interest, he’s clearly doing something right, and could make an even greater case for a big move to England if he shines for dark horses Japan at the World Cup.

Liverpool interest in out-of-favour PSG winger

Last but not least, we’re off to Anfield, where Liverpool are set for a busy time of it this summer, as they look to find a permanent successor to club legend Salah, as well someone who can fill in for the injured Hugo Ekitike who looks set to be out until early 2027 with a serious Achilles tendon injury.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are now “leading the race” to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who has struggled for game time with the Ligue 1 giants this season. The 18-year-old is a highly-rated young winger, who already has ten senior caps for another World Cup dark horse, Senegal.

The report states that a host of other Premier League clubs including West Ham, Man City, Brighton, Newcastle and Aston Villa are also “keeping tabs” on his situation ahead of the summer.

The 3AM Verdict: When half the Premier League get mentioned in a transfer story, it usually sets off the ‘Agent Putting Their Client’s Name Out There’ klaxon here at 3AM Towers. Certainly in this case, where it appears the player could be looking for a summer exit. The Reds do need a new right winger this summer, but to sign both Mbaye and Yan Diomande, with who they’ve been more heavily linked, would surely be overkill.
