Trips to Italy, snooker worlds & visiting murals: How Liverpool players spent days off

After beating Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Liverpool players were pictured enjoying a short period off, sharing a variety of their activities online.

With an eight-day gap from the win over Palace until Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, the Liverpool squad were afforded a couple of days off before returning to training on Tuesday.

Despite it being just two days’ rest, the players made the most of them, some jetting off for short breaks.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister both flew to Rome for some sun and sightseeing with their partners and young children.

They were back by Tuesday, though, as Szoboszlai was photographed with Milos Kerkez in the afternoon, meeting fans at the LCFA pitches in Litherland.

Kerkez also enjoyed himself over the weekend, visiting The Crucible in Sheffield to watch the Snooker World Championships on Sunday.

As well as posing for a photo alongside UFC fighter Paddy ‘the baddy’ Pimblett and musician Jamie Webster, the Liverpool left-back spoke briefly about his interest in the game.

“I came to support Ronnie (O’Sullivan), of course,” Kerkez said.

“I try to follow now a little bit more and yeah, I’m into it. Came to support him tonight and I hope he wins the eighth one.”

O’Sullivan didn’t manage an eighth title, as opponent John Higgins came from 8-3 down to beat ‘Ronnie the Rocket’ by 13 frames to 12.

Kerkez added: “I started playing more often recently so it’s recent. I know a few of them (teammates) play. I don’t know exactly the names but yeah, for sure.”

While some of his teammates travelled on their days off, captain Virgil van Dijk stayed closer to home.

He posted a series of photos on Instagram captioned, ‘Here and there’, one of which was a POV of his mural on Coningsby Road in L4.

He also shared a picture of himself alongside rapper Dave, while another photo depicted him at Anfield with Steven Gerrard on a shoot that happened a few weeks ago.

The Reds are now back in Kirkby and preparing to face Man United on Sunday, with a win by more than one goal taking Liverpool above their rivals and into third place.
