Arsenal Transfer Chief Andrea Berta 'Watched' Striker On Sunday And It WASN'T Julian Alvarez

**Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta was “in Istanbul” on Sunday to see Galatasaray play Fenerbahce, according to reports.**

Madrid-based publication [_AS_](https://as.com/futbol/internacional/andrea-berta-espia-a-osimhen-f202604-n/?ssm=TW_CC) claims that the Italian “watched” Victor Osimhen as he scored the opener during the 3-0 win.

Osimhen has been a long-term target for the Gunners, but they opted to sign Viktor Gyokeres last summer, rather than pursue the Nigerian.

Galatasaray paid €75m to secure his permanent transfer from Napoli, after he spent last season on loan in Turkey.

Arsenal are having doubts about Gyokeres

It is believed that Berta is seeking a potential replacement for Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish international has scored 18 goals for the Gunners this season, but he has struggled to impress in open play.

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is seen as another potential target, but his €100m (£87m) asking price could prove problematic, so it isn’t a complete surprise that in addition to the Argentinian, Berta has been looking at alternatives such as Osimhen.

The 27-year-old’s goal in the Istanbul derby at the weekend has taken his tally for the campaign to 20 in all competitions.

Osimhen was not the only player Berta was scouting

_AS_ report that Arsenal’s transfer chief was also in the stands to keep an eye on two other Galatasaray players – Baris Yilmaz and Ugurcan Cakir.

Yilmaz is a left winger (and he scored Galatasaray’s 2nd goal from the penalty spot in the victory against Fenerbahce). In some ways, the 25-year-old is a more likely target than Osimhen. One of the priorities for the summer transfer window is to strengthen the left flank, with Gabriel Martinelli expected to be offloaded.

In terms of Cakir, any move for a new keeper would only be sanctioned if Kepa Arrizabalaga was angling for a move away from the Emirates.
