Milos Kerkez has responded to criticism he has received at Liverpool, while also saying the squad will miss leadership when senior players leave in the summer.
Since signing from Bournemouth for £40 million last summer, Kerkez has split opinion at Liverpool.
In his early days, the left-back was criticised for being too rash and perhaps wasn’t helped by Arne Slot picking him repeatedly over the more senior Andy Robertson.
While there is still some way to go in his development, Kerkez has improved and has now responded to some of the criticism he received early on from the press.
Speaking to ESPN‘s Beth Lindop, the 22-year-old said: “To be honest, I don’t look at that too much.
“I’m on social media only to post maybe pictures and stuff like this, but also I have people doing that for me sometimes.
“I’m not paying attention to comments or whatever.
“We know obviously the media is a big thing, especially in England. People talk and everyone has their opinions, but I’m always focused on the pitch. I know what I can do, what kind of player I am and why I am here at Liverpool.
“I know I’m going to grow from that. It’s going to give me more experience to learn and push harder. That’s what I did; I just stayed silent and everyone at the club helped me a lot.

“I just want to improve and keep getting better. For me, it has been a growing season, learning lots of new things and adapting.
“The first two or three months were a bit tough in terms of playing style, playing lots of games. My legs needed to adapt also, to be honest.
“When you take some time and adapt, it gets better and better. I’m happy now that I’ve found my place more and I can play consistently and give consistent performances.”
Milos Kerkez thinks Liverpool could miss leadership

Kerkez has taken lots of advice during his debut campaign from Robertson. The Hungarian insisted there is “no bad blood” between the full-backs, with the Scotland captain ‘taking him under his wing’.
Robertson has boasted better attacking numbers in the Premier League, averaging 1.57 chances created per 90, compared to Kerkez’s 1.06.
The veteran left-back offers more than just attacking output, though. He is also a leader who sets standards in training.
With Mo Salah also departing this summer, Kerkez thinks the squad “are going to miss that leadership,” but it will allow others to step up.

“I think the future is bright. We have really good quality in the team,” Kerkez commented.
“Even now, I think we connect better but next year is going to be a better season. We know we have to have a better season. There are many hungry players in the team.
“Of course, we’re going to miss that leadership from the older guys because they’re experienced and have been through everything, but we have to learn.
“We have to move on and next year we have to make it a better season.”
