Liverpool’s dirty Alexander Isak tactic could be repeated in fresh Newcastle United raid

Anthony Gordon faces the same intense speculation regarding his Newcastle United future as Alexander Isak 12 months ago.

Bayern Munich are reportedly posturing to agree terms with Anthony Gordon before making an official approach to Newcastle United.

In simple terms, this would constitute “tapping up” and violate FIFA regulations. However, in practice, agents often informally negotiate wages with buying clubs to ensure a move is viable before club-to-club negotiations begin.

This happened with Alexander Isak last summer as his contract was never thought to be an issue. Liverpool had a strong understanding throughout the bitter transfer saga that the Swede was open to a move.

The Reds held out until September 1 - deadline day - after Isak burned all of his bridges at St James’ Park. Toon chiefs desperately do not want a repeat of the situation with Gordon - or any wantaway stars.

It is claimed that the winger’s agent, Gordon Stipic-Wipfler, flew to Munich last week to discuss a potential move. The Bundesliga giants are thought to be unimpressed by Newcastle’s £75million valuation.

Harry Kane has also been touted as a possible secret weapon for Bayern to lure Gordon to the continent. Sporting director Max Eberl refused to rule out a potential swoop for the Toon ace when asked over the weekend.
