Jamie Carragher's wife has shared a message she received off the former Liverpool FC defender on Sunday morning. The text came as the London Marathon got underway and Nicola Carragher marked one year since she completed the race.

On her fitness Instagram account, Nicola said: "No medal Monday for me this year but the cutest message off Jamie who was in London after the marathon." A screenshot of the messages was shared with Olivia Dean's hit song "Man I Need" played over it.

A message from Nicola said: "Love you babe" and the football pundit responded "Just having breakfast with all these marathon runners and I feel like telling them that you have done all the seven majors. Unbelievable what you did."

Carragher responded to the post with a heart emoji and Steven Gerrard's wife Alex Gerrard shared three red heart emojis. Other replies included clapping emojis. Last year, Nicola set out to run six major marathons before finishing with a party after the London Marathon.

As the London Marathon started on Sunday, Nicola said: "This time last year I completed the Six Star Major Marathons in seven months, a challenge I set for myself as a complete non‑runner.

"I had visualised the finish line for so long… celebrating in London, surrounded by my friends and family, feeling that rush of pride everyone talks about. That you see on social media when everyone finishes. But the truth is, I never felt it."

Nicola added: "I feel so much emotion and pride when the people I love achieve things, even strangers but nothing for myself. Crossing the London finish line felt more like relief. Relief from the fear of failure. Boston and London within six days with illness thrown in made me really doubt I'd finish the challenge that week."

Nicola said her current goal is to be more present in the moment. She said: "I KNOW my greatest achievement will always be my kids and they give me that feeling more than anything.

"So my experience wasn't the fairytale feeling I pictured. But today, I can say honestly that I am thankful, grateful, and incredibly proud of what I did. I showed up for myself again and again, no matter what was thrown at me."

Finishing her message, Nicola added: "Special thank you to everyone who supported me, believed in me, travelled to see me, donated, I am forever grateful. This is the post I should've written a year ago. Better late than never."

The family have had a lot to celebrate in recent months. They often speak about the achievements of their son James and daughter Mia. Nicola praised Mia when she landed a lead role in The Hunger Games on stage and James when he returned to football action for Wigan after a knee injury.

Last year, Nicola said: "Watching my girl who is an absolute superstar in the evening, like I have no words. Knowing my boy came on in the day after two months out recovering from injury and operation. You both will always be the greatest thing I have ever done in my life, my heart can't deal."
