Liverpool left-back Milos Kerkez has predicted that next season will look very different for the Reds, with things starting to head in the right direction again under Arne Slot.

After three successive wins in the Premier League, Liverpool looks very well placed to qualify for the Champions League again. It heads into the weekend's game with Manchester United knowing that a victory would be sufficient to overtake the Old Trafford side, with each then having three fixtures remaining.

Assuming that a place in the top five is secured, Liverpool can then bring some new players in during the summer and go again when the 2026/27 campaign kicks off in August.

"I think in general, for me it has been a growing season, learning a lot of new things and adapting," Kerkez told ESPN.

"Maybe the first two or three months were a bit tougher in terms of playing style and everything that was new to me, playing a lot of games and I needed to adapt also my legs for it, to be honest, and physical stuff.

"But after that, when you take some time and then adapt, it gets better and better always. I’m happy now that I’ve found my place more and I can play more consistently — and consistent performances also.

"And I think in terms of the team, also it has been a growing season. Every new player that came in, you need some time to adapt and to get to know each other better, on the pitch and off the pitch.

"So, I think it has been a growing season. The future is bright for this team, for sure."

This season, Kerkez has overtaken Andy Robertson as the clear number one pick to the left of Virgil van Dijk. The Hungary international has learned plenty from him while taking on the baton.

Kerkez wants to be the same kind of all-action left-back that Robertson was at his peak, ahead of the Scotland captain departing this summer in search of more regular game time.

"Always, I want [the fans] to remember I gave 110 per cent whenever I played," Kerkez added.

"I really start to understand what it means to play for this club, the responsibility to wear the shirt, the badge. I’m enjoying it a lot. I want always to give 110 per cent and that the fans remember that."

Liverpool.com says: Kerkez has really started to show why the Reds spent $54 million (£40 million) on him in the last few months, looking much calmer and more settled.

He was a good addition to the Liverpool defense last summer and will continue to show that in the years to come. Like players such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, there is so much more to come.
