Jamie Carragher says he is "not convinced" by Liverpool despite Arne Slot's men winning three Premier League games in a row heading into the huge clash against Manchester United this weekend.

Liverpool beat Fulham and Crystal Palace at Anfield on either side of a dramatic late victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium against Everton. That has cemented Slot's men inside the top five places and they look set to get over the line in terms of Champions League qualification.

However, Carragher says it will be much tougher at Old Trafford on Sunday, even though — while he isn't sure about Liverpool — he would also put Manchester United in the same bracket under Michael Carrick.

"Man Utd versus Liverpool, I’m not confident. I’m not," Carragher admitted on That Peter Crouch Podcast. "I don’t think United are playing well, to be fair.

"I think Liverpool are getting results without playing well. I’m not convinced by them at all, to be honest, at the minute. I can’t see Liverpool winning it.

"I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw. I think these teams will probably finish third and fourth in the Premier League. But I don’t think either of them are a really good team, to be honest."

Manchester United is currently three points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League standings. A win for the Reds would see them overtake and move into third spot.

Anything from fifth and above will be enough to make the Champions League, though. That has been the aim for Slot's men for many months after they quickly fell out of title contention.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet, Gary Neville said: "This game on Sunday — against United — which is historically probably the greatest Premier League fixture.

"It just feels a bit like, on Sunday, it is bigger for Slot and Michael Carrick than it is for the fans.

"I don't think Michael could afford a bad defeat on Sunday. Is it about the managers on Sunday a little bit?"

Liverpool.com says: To answer Neville's question, it does feel like that. For Slot, there is still room for improvement. Some people are not convinced about Liverpool, and building momentum will be vital.

As for Carrick, he is still in the interim period of his tenure. Other options will be available, but a big win over Liverpool would convince even more fans that he is the right man for the role.
