Liverpool could see five players depart for free when the summer transfer window opens. That includes Mohamed Salah, who has already confirmed this season will be his last at Anfield.

The Reds spent roughly £450m in last year's summer market, with the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike costing a pretty penny. Despite that expenditure, their Premier League title defence faltered and they currently sit in fourth spot, with qualification to next season's Champions League all they'll have to show for a difficult season.

When the summer rolls around, there will no doubt be more chopping and changing in terms of on field personnel. As things stand, five players, including Salah, could make their exit for free.

Salah is the headline departure come June, as despite his contract officially expiring in 2027, he will see this deal cut short and bid farewell to Anfield after nine trophy-laden years.

The Egyptian made this announcement in March via an emotional video posted online, thanking the club and Reds supporters. He will officially depart on June 30 although an injury picked up against Crystal Palace could mean he has played his final game for the club.

Salah is not the only legend who'll leave Liverpool this summer either, with Andy Robertson also enjoying his final season at the club. His contract does end this summer and he has announced he will move on once it does.

He said on the club's website: "It's never easy leaving a club like Liverpool, it has been a huge part of mine and my family's life for the last nine years. But I know football moves on, I know teams move on, and I think now is the time for me to move on and go wherever my next move is and wherever my career takes me.

"I'll always look back on amazing memories at this football club, I've put my heart and soul into the club for nine years and I've not got many regrets. This club will always mean the world to me, the fans will mean the world to me. It has been a hell of a journey."

Like Robertson, Ibrahima Konate's contract is also up and in theory, he could leave the club. But he revealed earlier this month that he is set to sign a new long-term deal at Anfield.

He said: "There are many things people have said, but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are [now] close to an agreement. For sure there is a big chance I'm here next season. This is what I always wanted."

Two more players will see their deals expire in June as things stand: young defender Rhys Williams and third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman. Liverpool do have the option to extend Woodman's contract by an extra year and they may take it up, given he has had to deputise in between the sticks in recent matches.

Williams has been a Liverpool player for 15 years, joining their academy as a 10-year-old in 2011. Though he looks set to seek pastures new, rounding off the five players who could leave Anfield for free in June.
