Barcelona are considering moves for Chelsea pair Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Cucurella is open to returning to the Camp Nou where he started his career, and the Blues could be willing to sell for around €50m (£43.3m), which is significantly below the £63m they paid for the defender in 2022.

Radio station Cadena SER, meanwhile, report that Pedro has been identified as a potential alternative to Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

The Argentinian international could cost in excess of €100m (£87m), and he has other suitors (including Arsenal), so Pedro is seen as a cheaper option.

Cucurella has made his feelings clear on returning to Spain

Speaking during the last international break, the left-back said that he would seriously consider going back to Barcelona:

“It is clear if that situation [Barcelona making an offer] did arise, it is hard to turn down, but I would have to consider it in the end.”

Cucurella is closing in on the final two years of his contract, and there is a possibility that Chelsea would consider cashing in if he doesn’t extend his current deal.

Would Chelsea sell Pedro?

Unlike Cucurella, you can’t see the Blues offloading the Brazilian international less than a year after paying Brighton £60m (including bonuses) for his services.

Pedro has been one of the few signings from last summer who has met expectations. He is the club’s top scorer with 19 goals, and he has successfully converted himself into an out-and-out number 9, having come to the club as a no.10.

Of course, a lot would also depend on Pedro. If he has his head turned by Barcelona, it would make it more difficult to keep him.
