Reports: Why things are lining up well for Milan to sign Man City centre-back

Things might be lining up nicely for AC Milan to make an attempt to sign Nathan Ake from Manchester City, reports suggest.

According to Calciomercato.com, Aké ‘s future at Manchester City is no longer so certain. The Dutch defender – acquired in the summer of 2020 from Bournemouth for a fee of around €45m – is considering a move at the end of the season and a new adventure.

During the last winter window, Milansounded out the player’s entourage regarding a possible arrival in January, but in the end the idea did not materialise largely because of Pep Guardiola’s desire not to lose one of his defensive pillars.

Doors open for Ake

Now, the situation has changed slightly and the player himself is considering saying goodbye during the summer. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Aké is dissatisfied with his current playing time this season with City and is seriously considering leaving to go elsewhere and play more.

Over the course of the current season, Aké has not been one of Guardiola ‘s first choices in defence. He has only started 15 times (of which six were in the Carabao Cup and only four in the league), logging a total of 1445 minutes spread across 29 appearances.

As reported by Calciomercato.com meanwhile, Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare still has the Dutch centre-back’s name high on his list of potential defensive additions. He is a profile that appeals to the entire management because of his versatility, given he can play as a centre-back or full-back.

The relationship between Tare and the Wasserman agency (who represent the former Bournemouth man) is more than good and the path could reopen in the summer, to provide the type of reinforcement for the defence requested by Allegri.
