Massive 14-word demand as Liverpool continue to be linked with"incredibly popular"attacker

**Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has urged the Reds to sign Michael Olise this summer, but Bayern Munich have responded to the rumours.**

The Reds continue to search for their ideal Mohamed Salah replacement, as the Egyptian brings the curtain down on a stunning Anfield career.

In the eyes of many, Olise is the dream option for Liverpool, with the Frenchman one of the best players in Europe currently, excelling and scoring in Bayern’s 5-4 defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Writing on [_X_](https://x.com/pennant83/status/2049213218313142457?s=20), Pennant dropped a 14-word demand to his former club, urging them to sign the 24-year-old: _“There is your replacement for Mo Salah. AT ALL COSTS. Any amount plus Gakpo.”_

That said, Bayern advisor and former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has shot down the idea of Olise leaving to _t-online.de_, in quotes provided by [_TEAMtalk_](https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/michael-olise-transfer-bayern-munich-strong-denials-dream-salah-successor):

_“Let me tell you a story from the past. In 2009, we had an incredible offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribery. At the time, it would have been a new world transfer record. I then went to our then CFO, Karl Hopfner, and Uli Hoeneß with this offer. We discussed it for two hours, trying to figure out what to do with it._

_“That day, we made a fundamental decision that, in the future, we would never sell a player we would miss on the pitch, and this unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, there’s no price tag that would make us flinch.”_

**Is Michael Olise a realistic option for Liverpool this summer?**

------------------------------------------------------------------

It is disappointing to see Bayern so adamant in their response, but in fairness, it is understandable, considering what a special footballer Olise is, with Rummenigge calling him “incredibly popular” in the same interview above.

He would be sensational for Liverpool, and has proven himself in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, but he doesn’t feel like a realistic target.

Instead, the much-linked Yan Diomande stands out as the most exciting option, with the 19-year-old RB Leipzig star someone with a massive future in the game.

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon also continues to be mentioned, but he is at his best on the left wing, so he wouldn’t be a natural Salah successor.
