Liverpool are seemingly likely to be on the hunt for another new manager this summer, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst set to leave after just one year.
Having taken over from John Heitinga in 2025, there were claims earlier this week that Van Bronckhorst is being lined up as Feyenoord’s new technical director.
The Dutchman’s departure will leave a big vacancy at Anfield, with claims now emerging from the Netherlands that Arne Slot will once again attempt to bring his former assistant at Feyenoord, Etienne Reijnen, to Liverpool.

Slot could try again for Reijnen
When Slot was putting together his first Liverpool coaching staff in 2024, Reijnen had initially looked likely to join alongside Sipke Hulshoff.
However, the 39-year-old reportedly did not yet have the correct qualifications to coach in England, meaning he ran into issues with a work permit.
According to Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen, though, Slot will try again once Reijnen has completed the course he is currently undertaking while working with Feyenoord alongside Robin van Persie.
“Reijnen, who is currently sitting alongside Robin van Persie, is obtaining his diploma and will head in that direction [Liverpool] afterwards,” Driessen told Vandaag Inside via fr12.nl.

Reijnen was Slot’s first choice before Liverpool pivoted to Heitinga in 2024 and has since done a decent job while assisting Van Persie.
There will be other candidates in the mix, no doubt, but as he looks to bounce back and save his long-term Liverpool future, why would Slot not get his Feyenoord band back together? Hiring Reijnen, along with Hulshoff, would be a way of doing that.
Adding to his comments on the former centre-back moving to Anfield, Driessen suggested that Liverpool could also come back in for right-back Lutsharel Geertruida.
“That is a habit of his; you shouldn’t do it,” he said, commenting on Slot’s affinity of hiring his Dutch colleagues. “He wanted to bring in Geertruida in the winter, so he will probably come in the summer now. Earlier, he already wanted to add Dumfries to the squad.”
