The latest Fantasy Premier League injury and fitness updates ahead of the Gameweek 35 deadline.
Another Fantasy Premier League deadline is fast approaching, and with just four weeks left to go in the season it’s crunch time for FPL players around the world – and it’s even more crucial for managers to keep across the latest injury news before they make their moves on Friday.
Mohamed Salah, Mateus Cunha and Jurriën Timber are among the big fantasy names who have worrying yellow, orange and red flags next to their names heading into Gameweek 35, and as always we’ve collected all the injury news on them and every other FPL-relevant player with fresh fitness updates below – and we’ll update this on Friday after the pre-match press conferences as well.
Mohamed Salah, Mateus Cunha & Jurriën Timber among FPL injury doubts for Gameweek 35
Mohamed Salah & Alisson: Initial reports suggested that the hamstring injury Salah sustained against Crystal Palace would be season-ending, and thus prematurely curtail his Liverpool career – but the club have since confirmed that he will in fact play again before he leaves on a free transfer, with the issue officially described as “minor.” It’s highly unlikely that he features against Manchester United, however.
Goalkeeper Alisson is more likely to be involved – he’s been out since March but Arne Slot said that he was “close” to playing last weekend and hinted that he had only been a late fitness test away from starting against Palace. That didn’t prove to be the case, but he may well be back in time for Sunday.
Mateus Cunha: The big injury worry for Liverpool’s opponents and old rivals this weekend is Cunha, who unexpectedly missed the exciting win over Brentford with what Michael Carrick said was a “sore hip flexor.” His condition was described as “promising” in the build-up to that match, suggesting he will be just fine to face Liverpool. Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez are expected to miss out, while Luke Shaw is a doubt due to a muscular problem.
Jurriën Timber & Kai Havertz: There had been speculation that Timber would return to face Atlético Madrid but he missed the trip to Spain despite returning to training. Mikel Arteta’s comments about his health suggested that he’s a major doubt for this weekend’s game against Fulham, although the Arsenal head coach is seldom entirely open and honest about his players’ status. Kai Havertz is also a doubt due to a groin problem, and there is no suggestion that Mikel Merino will be ready either.
Anthony Gordon: While he’s not having as much of an impact on the FPL as he has in the past, Gordon remains an intriguing differential option – or would be if he was fit to play. Eddie Howe said last week that the England star would “hopefully” come back from a groin issue in time to play Brighton and he’s been spotted back in full training. Whether he’s good to go for a full 90 minutes or not remains to be seen, but he could well be involved in some capacity.
Spurs & Leeds stars among Fantasy Premier League players who could miss out
Xavi Simons & Dominic Solanke: Simons is, sadly, expected to be out for the rest of 2026 after rupturing his ACL, while The Evening Standard are among outlets reporting that there are fears Solanke could be shut down for the season after suffering a hamstring injury against Wolves. That remains unconfirmed at the time of writing, but we’d assume the worst until Roberto De Zerbi says otherwise.
Noah Okafor, Jaka Bijol & Gabriel Gudmundsson: Okafor’s recent form means that he’s among the current gameweek’s most transferred-in players, but he took a knock to the calf that means he faces a late fitness test before he can play against Burnley on Friday. Daniel Farke said there was a “question mark” against his name, while Bijol has a hip problem. Farke is “hopeful” that both will be involved. Gudmundsson won’t be available due to a hamstring injury and is touch-and-go for the last few weeks of the season.
Rodri & Rúben Dias: Anyone thinking about taking a dart on Rodri for the last few weeks should probably think again. Pep Guardiola has said that City “don’t yet know” if he’ll be fit to face Everton but strongly hinted that he wouldn’t be risked just yet. There haven’t been any update on Dias yet, but he’s a major doubt again, while Joško Gvardiol remains unavailable for another week or two.
Reece James: So far as we know, James has yet to return to training having missed the last six weeks, and it doesn’t look especially likely that he’ll be involved this weekend. Levi Colwill is back in full training after an ACL injury, and could make the bench.
Beto: The budget-friendly Portuguese striker missed the defeat to West Ham due to a concussion, but has been pictured in training this week – suggesting that he’s in line to start against Manchester City. Not that you want to sign him for that fixture anyway…
Murillo: Nottingham Forest have confirmed that the Brazilian defender won’t be fit for the game against Aston Villa this weekend, in case anyone was backing Vitor Pereira’s side to replicate their sterling performance against Sunderland.
