Some Liverpool fans have questioned why Arne Slot has been nominated for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award – despite the Reds collecting maximum points from their top-flight games in April.

Slot remains an unpopular figure with some Liverpool fans, but April saw the team win all three of its league games, against Fulham, Everton, and Crystal Palace.

That three-game winning run has put Liverpool on the cusp of Champions League qualification for next season — the Reds have an eight-point cushion in the top five with just four games of the season remaining.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Daniel Farke, Pep Guardiola, Fabian Hurzeler, Andoni Iraola and Vitor Pereira are also on the shortlist for the Manager of the Month award.

Some snide Liverpool fans reacted to Slot's nomination by suggesting it was not warranted.

"Picking up wins here and there while playing some of the worst football ever seen gets u a nomination? This league is dead," one wrote.

Another said: "This is the first time I’ll not be voting my own manager, I used to vote just out of bias but no way I’m voting Slot."

A third added: "Still wondering why he is still at Liverpool"

Liverpool could wrap up Champions League qualification with a win over Manchester United this weekend — and a win against United would also be enough to leapfrog the Red Devils in the table and move up to third.

Slot's men are gunning for revenge after losing to United at Anfield earlier in the season, but it won't be an easy task against a United side that has looked reinvigorated since Michael Carrick arrived as an interim replacement for Ruben Amorim in January.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is predicting a draw in Sunday's game between English soccer's two most successful clubs.

"Man Utd versus Liverpool, I’m not confident. I’m not," Carragher admitted on That Peter Crouch Podcast. "I don’t think United are playing well, to be fair.

"I think Liverpool are getting results without playing well. I’m not convinced by them at all, to be honest, at the minute. I can’t see Liverpool winning it.

"I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw. I think these teams will probably finish third and fourth in the Premier League. But I don’t think either of them are a really good team, to be honest."
