Manchester United host Liverpool in an intriguing Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon.
The two sides currently sit third and fourth respectively in the top flight standings and, with the Premier League set to get five qualification spots for next season’s Champions League, both United and the Reds are on course to do so.
Despite this, uncertainty remains surrounding the future both both Michael Carrick at Old Trafford, and Arne Slot at Anfield.
The former was only appointed as a caretaker head coach until the end of the season, while Dutchman Slot has failed miserably in his quest to defend his side’s Premier League crown, having cruised so easily to the Premier League title last year.
Now, it appears that the two clubs are also set to battle it out off the pitch in the race to land a La Liga midfielder, although agreeing a deal could prove tricky.
As per CaughtOffside, both Man United and Liverpool are interested in Real Madrid superstar Aurelian Tchouameni.
The report claims that the Red Devils are on the hunt for two new midfielders and have identified the France international as a possible target, while Liverpool retain an interest having previously explored a move for the player prior to his switch to Real Madrid in 2022.

Tchouameni, 26, has played more than 190 times for the Spanish giants across all competitions since joining from French side Monaco four years ago, but uncertainty surrounding his future appears to stem primarily from the fact that it isn’t yet clear who will be in charge of Real next term.
Current boss Alvaro Arbeloa is set to leave his role this summer and several names – including former manager Jose Mourinho – have been linked with the position.
It is claimed that, at present, Tchouameni is more likely to stay put in Madrid and sign a new deal with Los Blancos, as opposed to leaving the club during the upcoming transfer window.
If Real were to entertain offers, the report suggests that they would have to be in the region of £70-80 million.
