“He Is That Good”–Murphy Names The Player Who Would Be A Guaranteed Hit If Liverpool Sign Him To Replace Salah

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy thinks Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would be the ideal replacement for Mo Salah.

Speaking to Aceodds.com, Murphy said that there is no player in the world who could replicate Salah’s output at his peak, but Kvaratskhelia is the one option who possesses sufficient quality to make up for the Egyptian’s loss:

“It is a difficult one, because no one is going to come in and hit Salah’s numbers. I think that is going to be impossible. So, you would have to replace the numbers with maybe two players instead of one.”

“When you are Liverpool Football Club, one of the biggest clubs in the world, you have to go out and try to get the best players. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is probably the best right-sided player in world football right now. Could they tempt him? Maybe not, but we have seen many times that the best players want to play in the best league in the world and in one of the biggest clubs.”

“I would be trying to go for someone like him. Maybe he won’t score the same amount of goals as Mohamed Salah, but you know he is not going to fail. He is that good, he really is.”

Would Kvaratskhelia be a realistic target?

Liverpool did show interest in the Georgian international before his move to PSG at the start of last year, but a lot has changed since then.

The likelihood of Kvaratskhelia moving to Anfield now is pretty low. There have been some links to Arsenal, but when the forward’s father addressed those reports recently, he said that his son is very happy at PSG.

Who could Liverpool sign instead?

As Murphy rightly points out, signing a like-for-like replacement for Salah isn’t really on the cards, so adding a different type of threat from the flanks may be considered instead.

At the moment, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande appears to be the top option, but the 19-year-old is very inexperienced, and he could cost a considerable amount of money.

With Leipzig on the verge of sealing Champions League qualification, reports suggest that the Bundesliga club may demand in excess of €100m (£87m) for the teenager.
