AC Milan’s mission to sign Mario Gila from Lazio this summer may yet get quite complicated despite recent positive reports.
According to what is being reported by Corriere dello Sport, Milan are ‘ready to pounce’ for Gila, but Inter remain in the running, Juventus have made inquiries and Napoli cannot be considered out of the race yet either.
Top clubs in the Premier League and France are watching the situation closely, and even Real Madrid are monitoring things. They have a 50% resale clause, but if Gila leaves for free they will get nothing. That is why Claudio Lotito could try to keep Mario to for another year, but it’s not a given.
Meanwhile, according to today’s edition of Il Tempo (via MilanVibes), Inter, Juventus and Atletico Madrid want Gila and the competition from the city rivals is particularly worrying for Milan. The Nerazzurri also need to modernise their defence, and he fits what Chivu wants.
Lotito has no intention of making any concessions on Gila’s price tag despite the fact his deal expires in 2027, and his starting valuation is around €35m. This is a significant sum, but as mentioned Real Madrid get half. The Rossoneri could try to negotiate it down to around €25m.
