A report from Catalunya has suggested that Liverpool could play Barcelona in Kenya this summer, while Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao has been linked to the Reds.
Etienne Reijnen again linked with Liverpool move
Etienne Reijnen was an assistant of Slot at Feyenoord in his role as analyst and technical advisor, but he couldn’t move to Liverpool with the manager due to work permit issues.
However, Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen says that could now change because Reijnen is completing his coaching qualifications, which could make him eligible to work in the UK.
Feyenoord source 1908.nl relayed Driessen’s report that “as soon as that process (coaching qualifications) is finished, a transfer to Liverpool could be set in motion quickly.”
Currently, analyst Lewis Mahoney is taking a lead on set-pieces, an area for which Reijnen would likely be responsible. The Reds have improved considerably in this department since Aaron Briggs’ departure in December.
The Liverpool Echo soon followed this up, commenting that “the Echo understands Reijnen could become an option with Slot continuing to evolve a coaching staff.”
Meanwhile, assistant coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst is being linked to the Feyenoord manager’s job after just a year on Merseyside.
He previously managed the Rotterdam outfit from 2015 to 2019, as well as Guangzhou City, Besiktas and Rangers.

More from This Is Anfield
With Arne Slot not consistently picking Curtis Jones, the 25-year-old has a decision to make about his future this summer. Mo Stewart looks at how he could ‘save’ his Liverpool career by temporarily taking on a new role:
“Fresh from combining a whopping 28 defensive contributions with a 94 percent passing accuracy at Everton, Jones backed that up with another full stat-sheet against Crystal Palace, including an assist, more successful tackles than any Liverpool player and more accurate passes than anyone except Konate.
“Unlike the centre-back, Jones was regularly finding team-mates in the opposition half, resisting pressure and starting attacks.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

It was on April 30, 1989 that Liverpool played their first game 15 days after the Hillsborough disaster.
Celtic hosted a friendly match attended by over 60,000 people at Parkhead in aid of the Hillsborough Disaster Appeal.
Alongside goals from Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush, John Aldridge scored twice for Liverpool to win 4-0 on a day when the result mattered not.
That act of kindness by our Glaswegian counterparts hasn’t been forgotten.
