Everton sold midfielder Amadou Onana to Aston Villa in the summer of 2024.

Aston Villa have been told to consider cashing in on Amadou Onana - just two years after leaving Everton.

The Toffees opted to sell Onana in the summer of 2024 after he spent two years on Merseyside. The midfielder made 72 appearances for Everton, scoring four goals before completing a £50 million move to Aston Villa.

At the time, there were mixed feelings on Onana's exit. While he displayed he quality on the pitch, there was a feeling that he was not consistent enough for Everton, while the club made a significant profit on the fee they paid for him from Lille in 2022.

Since moving to Villa, Onana has played 70 times, netting seven times. His latest outing was in Unai Emery's side's 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Europa League semi-final first leg at the City Ground.

And it appears that the Belgium international faces similar scrutiny as he did during his time at Everton. Former Villa striker Stan Collymore has claimed that Onana 'goes AWOL' when games get tough - and a sale should be contemplated if a good offer arrives.

Collymore posted on X: “If we get significant money ever for Onana, sell sell sell. Ask anyone who's played the game and they can see someone who goes AWOL when it gets a bit hard.

“Important player for Villa, because he does fight fires, but he's not going into the trenches for anyone. Hasn't gone unnoticed at Bodymoor either.”
