Arne Slot has confirmed Alisson has not trained yet for ahead of this weekend's trip to Manchester United and remains a doubt for the game.

The Liverpool goalkeeper has not featured for the Reds since March 18 due to ongoing hamstring issues, which forced him to miss seven club games and Brazil's March international fixtures.

Slot revealed last Friday that he was in contention to make his return against Crystal Palace, but was ultimately deemed not fit to return, with Freddie Woodman starring at Anfield in his absence.

Giorgi Mamardashvili also remains sidelined due to the wound he sustained in the recent Merseyside derby win, but Alisson's return is still in doubt.

"Ali hasn’t trained with us yet but is close," said Slot. "I have to hear from the medical staff if he is ready to train with us, He is close, but we don’t want to take any risks."

Slot added that, despite not training, it is not impossible for Alisson to play at Old Trafford, with fitness levels different for outfield players and goalkeepers.

Uncertainty also continues to surround Alisson's future, with Juventus keen on the experienced stopper.

Slot last week implied there was an argument for selling the former Roma this summer, while Virgil van Dijk said he does not know what the future holds for his long-time team-mate.

“Listen, there is always going to be a day where you – including myself – will go. But if it’s going to happen – and I have no idea about it, and I don’t think at this point he has an idea about it – then we will, as a club, adapt to that,” the Liverpool captain told reporters after last week's win over Palace.
