Di Marzio: Arsenal forward a ‘top target’ as Milan seek ‘mobile striker’

Another name has emerged as a candidate as AC Milan continuing searching for the right striker: Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.

When Massimiliano Allegri left Casa Milan on Thursday evening after a three-hour meeting with the Milan management, it was yet another sign that planning for the future is very much a topic being discussed right now.

The main acquisition that the Rossoneri are expected to make in the upcoming mercato is a new striker, one capable of guaranteeing goals. To put things in perspective, Milan have scored six less goals as a team in Serie A than Harry Kane has netted for Bayern Munich this season.

Jesus has risen

According to what Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on Sky Calcio Unplugged, Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus is on the list of names that Milan are sorting through. The Brazilian striker is a ‘top target’ and will remain so once the window reopens.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will let him go and under what conditions. The Brazilian – whose contract expires in 2027 – has scored five goals in 25 appearances for the Gunners this season across all competitions.

The management apparently believe that having ‘a mobile striker’ could be the key to unlocking the attack, which has been lacking this season. With Santiago Gimenez out and Niclas Fullkrug arriving in January, Massimiliano Allegri has repeatedly used Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao up front.

Gabriel Jesus could be the right player for the Rossoneri, who are intent on making a mark upon their return to the Champions League, which is now six points away. They want to have a 2026-27 season as protagonists both in Italy and Europe.
