Arne Slot has provided an update on Mo Salah, saying he ‘expects’ him to play for Liverpool again thanks to his powers of recovery.
Salah has rarely been injured during his nine years at Liverpool and when he has spent time on the sidelines, he has been quick to return.
The club confirmed this week that Salah’s hamstring damage is only ‘minor’, so he should be able to play again this season.
Slot said as much on Friday, adding: “As we know from Mo, he is always working incredibly hard in the season when he’s fit, but also when he’s injured to be back as soon as possible and that’s what he tries now.
“So usually he’s earlier fit than other players after a minor injury – because he has a minor injury – so we expect him indeed to be back in the final part of the season, but not for Sunday.”
When the 33-year-old limped off against Crystal Palace, there were fears that he might not get to play again for Liverpool before leaving this summer.
Thankfully, those worries have been alleviated and Slot is pleased that Salah will be able to get the adulation he deserves.
“In all ways, it’s a big relief that is injury is minor so that he is able to play for us, that he is able to play at the World Cup,” the Dutchman added.
“Anytime (if any) a player that deserves to have a big send-off, it’s definitely Mo.”
