Arne Slot has hinted Liverpool will look to add to its coaching roster ahead of next season, amid reports that Etienne Reijnen is set to join the club.
The 39-year-old was part of Slot’s set-up at Feyenoord, along with Sipke Hulshoff, who moved with Slot to Liverpool in 2024. However, Reijnen was unable to join because of work permit issues.
Having completed his qualifications in the Netherlands , reports have suggested that Reijnen may team up with Slot again this summer. The Reds are one staff member down from the start of the season, with Aaron Briggs leaving the club in December amid the team’s issues managing set-pieces.

Asked on Friday about the possibility of making additions to his backroom staff, Slot said: “I think we all know we lot a member of staff during the season.
“We parted ways so it makes complete sense at this club, if someone is leaving a department, that you are looking at a replacement.
“In general for a club, it makes sense not only to look at player-wise but also staff-wise.

“We are always keeping our eyes open to improve the club and that means it could be a player but also a staff. We always look around to see how we can strengthen.”
Liverpool made several coaching alterations last summer, with John Heitinga, Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel leaving, to be replaced by Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Xavi Valero.
The potential recruitment of Reijnen is further evidence of Slot’s secure position as Liverpool head coach.

He has been linked with a summer exit for long parts of the season, but is expected to remain, assuming the Reds secure a Champions League place.

That looks increasingly likely with a win on Sunday against Manchester United potentially guaranteeing a top-five finish.
The Reds are eight points clear of sixth-place Brighton with four games remaining this season.
Slot also confirmed in Friday’s press conference that Alisson and Milos Kerkez are doubts for the weekend trip to Old Trafford, while Mohamed Salah will also miss out following the injury he sustained last week in the win over Crystal Palace.
