The Liverpool boss discussed potentially adding to his backroom staff.

Arne Slot has admitted he is open to bolstering his Liverpool backroom staff at the end of the season.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Feyenoord assistant coach Etiënne Reijnen. The 39-year-old was unable to move to Anfield when Slot took over as head coach because he did not have the required coaching qualifications for a work permit.

Liverpool do have a void to fill in their backroom after parting ways with set-piece coach Aaron Briggs earlier in the season. Meanwhile, Giovanni van Bronckhorst - currently an assistant coach with the Reds - is reportedly on Feyenoord’s radar to become technical director.

Slot has not ruled out Reijnen, 39, making the move to Merseyside. The Liverpool boss said: “I think we all know we lot a member of staff during the season. We parted ways so it makes complete sense at this club, if someone is leaving a department, that you are looking at a replacement.

“In general, for a club, it makes sense not only to look at player-wise but also staff-wise. We are always keeping our eyes open to improve the club and that means it could be a player but also a staff. We always look around to see how we can strengthen.”

Liverpool travel to Manchester United on Sunday knowing that a victory will see them leapfrog their fierce foes into third spot in the Premier League.

The Reds have won their past three top-flight games, although Slot is not entirely happy with the level of performances from his side. He said: “I think we can be at a much higher level than we are now. If you look at the results then you can be positive - three wins from three games - but performance wise it is not our three best of the season.

"We can play much better and have shown we can. In many of those games, we have been unlucky. I would not say in the last three games that we did not deserve to win, but we were more lucky than we have ever been this season.

"It would be helpful if everyone was available every once in a while. That has been the issue throughout the season and it is very extreme at the moment."
