Friedkin mean business: Everton plotting move to sign "fantastic" 13-goal Premier League forward

Everton are planning to raid Premier League clubs this summer to sign Liam Delap from Chelsea and former Toffee John Stones.

Everton eyeing John Stones return

10 years and an endless list of trophies since leaving Everton for Manchester City in a deal worth £50m, Stones is set to bring his time at the Etihad to an end this summer. The England international bows out a club legend and as one of the most successful defenders that the Premier League has ever seen.

The big question Stones is now facing is what's next? The 31-year-old is about to become a free agent as a serial winner and should have plenty of offers on the table, including from Everton.

Everton make contact to re-sign former star who 'half the Premier League' want

The Toffees want the in-demand player back on Merseyside.

Recent reports have claimed that the Toffees are aiming to enjoy an ambitious summer transfer window, which could feature a reunion with their former defender.

Returning to Merseyside would certainly be a fitting way for the defender to approach the end of his career after achieving so much success since departing in 2016.

Signing top six stars may well be the theme of Everton's transfer window too, given that they've also set their sights on Delap.

Everton plotting Liam Delap move

As reported by iNews, Everton are now plotting a move to sign Delap, who has struggled since joining Chelsea in a deal worth £30m last summer.

A move for the forward could reportedly be part of an ambitious summer, which could include deals for Jack Grealish, Stones, Arsenal's Ben White, and Delap as Everton aim to cement their place in the top half and more next season.

Chelsea's Liam Delap celebrates scoring their third goal

Whilst Delap has struggled at Stamford Bridge, it's worth taking note of just how impressive he was at Ipswich Town. It was only last season that he was playing a starring role for a club outside the top six - scoring 12 Premier League goals.

The fact that he's only added one more league goal to his tally since then highlights just how much of a disaster his Chelsea spell has been this season.

"In terms of numbers, he’s doing fantastic. It’s not just in terms of his numbers. The way he plays and fights and is always ‘there’. But he’s an Ipswich player." (Enzo Maresca on Delap)

The 23-year-old was certainly a highly-rated player before the Chelsea move and that quality doesn't just disappear. At Everton under David Moyes, Delap could find his Ipswich form again.

It wouldn't be the first time that a struggling top six star has thrived at the Hill Dickinson and if rumours are anything to go by, he wouldn't be the last.
