Paul Joyce: Liverpool'likely'to target£100m gem with 33 goals&28 assists since Aug 2024

Liverpool are expected to make multiple attacking signings again this summer, with Mohamed Salah set to leave the club on a free transfer.

While there were concerns that Salah would miss the final game of the season due to a hamstring injury, the latest is that he is expected to be fit before the Premier League season comes to an end on 24 May.

The club has already begun its preparations for the summer transfer window and a number of attackers are on the club’s radar, including RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande.

Bradley Barcola is increasingly linked with a transfer to Anfield, with the Times’ Paul Joyce now reporting that the Frenchman is likely to be among the names considered to join the Reds.

[??] NEW: RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is among a number of wide players that have been assessed and the list is likely to include Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola also. Liverpool’s recruitment team will be considering the merits of several players.

Latest transfer news on Liverpool attacking targets for the 2026 summer window

While Liverpool spent £320m to recruit Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike last summer, they look set for another major spending spree in the attacking department.

Joyce reports: “Pace in wide areas is required, especially on the right flank given Mohamed Salah’s impending departure.

“A winger who can take on full backs on the outside as well as cutting inside would help to stretch opponents, creating space for Florian Wirtz, and the hope will be that they produce a regular supply line for Isak.

“If Wirtz and Isak can come to the fore, then some of Salah’s goals can be spread around. RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is among a number of wide players that have been assessed and the list is likely to include Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola also.

“Liverpool’s recruitment team will be considering the merits of several players.”

Barcola is exactly what Liverpool need in attack

Salah has recently shown glimpses of the form that saw him generate 57 goal contributions in the 2024-25 season, the Egyptian will soon leave the club after nine years at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo has also been below par this seaosn, showing a predictability that didn’t feature in Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph last term, leading to many calling for more direct and effective wingers to be recruited.

Barcola is just that.

?? Bradley Barcola would be a phenomenal signing for #LFC.

He can play on the left and the right. Even played in a central role in the past.

? He’s averaged 0.83 goal contributions per 90 in 103 PSG games.

Over the last two seasons, Barcola has scored 33 goals and assisted 28 for PSG, but has often played second fiddle to Ousmane Dembele, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desiree Doue.

Liverpool will need to commit to another marquee signing to sign Barcola, however, with reports last summer claiming PSG were asking for £100m to sell him.
