His right foot was having some issues after a game he played. After multiple checks it was found as a stress fracture that needs immediate care. As a result, he under went a foot surgery.
Now, he is recovering and trying his best to get back to action. However, this phase has made him frustrated. In this case, Merino said he is desperate to be back in action. His exact words were, “It’s the most important thing for me, try to recover and be on the pitch with the team. It’s hard when you’re not even training…that’s what you’re born to do, play football.” Thus, his comments reveal that although he is frustrated, he does not want to rush recovery.
Rushing through a recovery period always makes long term issues in football. Also, he talks about getting back with the team to help them win. Therefore, showing his admiration for his teammates and club.
