As long as Liverpool don't suffer another catastrophic failure over the final few weeks of the campaign, they will secure passage into the Champions League.
There have been numerous points throughout the season that even that looked unattainable for Arne Slot's side, who have endured a wretched Premier League title defence, but three successive wins have lifted Liverpool into fourth place and away from the dogfight below them.
The pre-transfer-window whispers suggest that Slot is going to remain in charge at Anfield, and while that's a decision that will split opinion on Merseyside, the Reds can at least attack the market with a clear, unified vision in mind.
While much of the noise centres around Liverpool's interest in forwards, Adam Wharton is a name who continues to circle around Liverpool transfer discourse.
Liverpool already kicking off summer transfer plans
The likes of Yan Diomande and Michael Olise have dazzled with their wing play in the Bundesliga this season, but a midfielder is also on Liverpool's agenda, and Wharton could fit the bill. Recent reports suggest that negotiations are already underway between FSG and the player's entourage.
His line-breaking passing and intelligence on the ball are two qualities that have been sorely missing at Liverpool this season, and while he would cost a pretty penny, it's a signature that the Reds could do with.
However, Liverpool do need more forwards, and while Mohamed Salah's departure calls for a right winger, Hugo Ekitike's Achilles rupture could see sporting director Richard Hughes move for a dynamic frontman too.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among the clubs who have made approaches for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, who could leave his Italian employers this summer.

Leao, 26, has been taken away from his left-sided home and refashioned into a focal frontman under Massimiliano Allegri, and given that he could be available for just £42m this summer, FSG might spy a real opportunity to pounce on here - especially when considering how many additions need to be welcomed through the Anfield gates this summer.
Why Leao could be Liverpool's perfect summer signing
Leao has spent the lion's share of his professional career in Italy with AC Milan, enjoying the peaks and enduring the valleys that his outfit have encountered over the years.

This season, Allegri has indeed repurposed his side's talisman, and he has been rewarded because of it. Leao, in a centre-forward's role, has scored nine goals across 21 Serie A appearances, only missing nine big chances. Moreover, he has maintained his fleet-footed energy, creating nine big chances for his teammates and darting across the frontline, making mayhem.
Wharton is a fantastic midfielder, and someone who FSG should pursue this summer, but when looking at the Redmen's issues this season, it's clear that they need a combative and physical central profile to complement that sparkling creativity that Wharton would indeed provide.
He would make an impact, but would it be as big as the waves that Leao would create? Perhaps not, the Portugal international is one of the best in the world, his clinical edge doubly important given Salah's looming exit and the wider profligacy that has plagued Liverpool this season.
Described in the past as "one of the best left wingers in the world" by analyst and Como scout Ben Mattinson, Leao's quality in the danger area this season suggests that he could play a Luis Diaz-esque role under Slot's wing, and that could help reenergise a frontline that has looked tired and unsure of itself numerous times this term.
Liverpool have to get this one over the line. Cody Gakpo cannot be trusted with the No. 1 spot on the left next year after such poor returns this season.

In an ideal world, Liverpool would welcome both Leao and Wharton to the fold, but given the cost-efficient nature of Leao's availability, this could be one of the signings of the summer.
