Belgian winger "very open" to joining Arsenal, 29 G/A this campaign

Arsenal are poised to reinforce their left-wing department during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners presently have Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli as their specialist options for the position, but their form has been unconvincing in the backend of the season.

Both players will enter the last year of their contracts this summer. With a 12-month clause present in Martinelli’s deal, there is a high possibility that Trossard could be offloaded.

Amidst this, the Gunners are reportedly tracking Ajax winger Mika Godts.

HandofArsenal, who exclusively broke the Cristian Mosquera story last summer, has revealed that the Belgian ace would be ‘very open’ to joining Arsenal if the club step up their interest.

Godts yet to prove himself at the top level

The 20-year-old has had a fabulous campaign with Ajax. He has netted 16 goals and provided 13 assists from 39 appearances (29 goal involvements) across all competitions for the Dutch heavyweights.

He has dazzled with his quick feet, completing almost three dribbles per league match. He has also won five duels and made four recoveries per appearance with one tackle.

Despite the positives, Godts has yet to prove himself on the biggest stage. He managed just one assist in eight Champions League appearances as Ajax finished 32nd in the league phase.

This is undoubtedly a big downside to his campaign. Arsenal should not view Godts as an upgrade on the left wing and must seek a more experienced, proven signing this summer.

Godts could be prised away for a reasonable fee, but the Gunners should seek a signing with Premier League experience. Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon would be an ideal fit.

The 25-year-old has 22 goal involvements this term, including 12 in the Champions League. He is open to pursuing a bigger challenge away from the Magpies at the end of the season.
